021 FXUS63 KAPX 261822 AFDAPX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Gaylord MI 222 PM EDT Thu Sep 26 2024 .KEY MESSAGES... - Unseasonably warm through next Monday - Rain chances Monday night into Tuesday && .SHORT TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/... Issued at 202 PM EDT Thu Sep 26 2024 As the southeastern states brace for the arrival of Hurricane Helene, high pressure covers the Great Lakes region. This area of high pressure is expected to lead to more of the same over the next few days, mostly sunny skies during the day but with patchy ground fog likely forming late at night. Temperatures will continue to be unseasonably warm with highs Friday ranging from the mid 70s to low 80s, along with light winds. Comfortably cool tonight with lows once again mainly in the 40s, with a few spots near the lake shores around 50 or so. && .LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/... Issued at 202 PM EDT Thu Sep 26 2024 No big changes to the long term forecast. Upper level ridging across the region is expected to hold moisture from Helene to our south through Monday. Will likely see patchy ground fog formation at night into the weekend with very little wind flow. A northern stream trough then leads to chances for showers Monday night into Tuesday. Unseasonably warm daytime temperatures continue with highs mainly in the 70s to near 80 through Monday. Seasonably cooler Tuesday into Wednesday with highs generally in the 60s. Lows at night ranging from the mid 40s to mid 50s except the upper 30s to mid 40s Tuesday night. && .AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z FRIDAY/... Issued at 126 PM EDT Thu Sep 26 2024 Patchy fog is expected to form once again later tonight into early Friday. Vsbys could drop to a mile or less at times, especially at CIU, PLN and MBL. Otherwise, VFR conditions with light winds through this evening and again Friday after any fog dissipates early in the day. && .APX WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... MI...None.
