166 FXUS65 KBOI 262014 AFDBOI Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Boise ID 214 PM MDT Thu Sep 26 2024 .SHORT TERM...Tonight through Saturday night...A gradual warming trend is expected through Saturday as a high- pressure ridge strengthens over the region. Temperatures are projected to be around 15 degrees above normal, reaching the low 90s in the valley. Strengthening southeasterly winds ahead of an approaching dry cold front could push temperatures into the mid-90s by Saturday afternoon in the valley. .LONG TERM...Sunday through Thursday...A series of upper troughs will pass north of the region through the period. A dry cold frontal passage early Sunday will bring gusty northwest winds with high temperatures 10-15 degrees cooler than Saturday, though still above normal. Temperatures remain at or above normal Monday and Tuesday under a westerly flow and mostly clear skies. The next dry trough/cold frontal passage comes Wednesday ushering in another 5-10 degrees of cooling. Lower elevations see highs in the low 70s and mtn valleys in the low 60s Wednesday and Thursday which is around normal. && .AVIATION...VFR. Clear skies. No significant weather is forecast through Friday. Surface winds: variable 10 kt or less. KBOI...VFR. Clear skies. Surface wind NW 5-10 kt this afternoon, becoming variable less than 5 kt after 27/02Z. Weekend Outlook...VFR. Winds less than 10 kt Fri/Sat.
