Winds have gone more easterly than anticipated at DEN tonight, we
are expecting a more southerly component to return in the next few
hours. Early tomorrow afternoon (~19Z), southwest winds are
likely with gusts up to 30 mph, then after roughly 21Z some
passing showers are likely over all airports. These are expected
to be high based showers that could produce some gusty and erratic
outflows up to 40 mph.

VFR conditions expected at all three TAF sites over the next 24 hours
with variable high cloudiness at times. Winds will increase from the
southwest on Saturday with gusts up to 35 kts possible at all three
terminals in the afternoon and early evening. Winds will decrease
around 02-03z and shift from the west to northwest at all three terminals.
KPUB and KCOS will see a more northerly wind shift 03z-06z as a cold front

Showers will linger over eastern Utah over the next 24 hours
with possible ILS conditions and a low probability of MVFR at
KVEL by the afternoon. Winds will increase aloft leading to some
areas of LLWS and mountain wave turbulence. These winds mix
down tomorrow and will bring more widespread 35 to 40 mph winds
with higher gusts possible near showers through the afternoon.
Showers and storms expand in coverage this afternoon and
continue that through late evening.

Showers will linger over eastern Utah over the next 24 hours
with possible ILS conditions and a low probability of MVFR at
KVEL by the afternoon. Winds will increase aloft leading to some
areas of LLWS and mountain wave turbulence. These winds mix
down tomorrow and will bring more widespread 35 to 40 mph winds
with higher gusts possible near showers through the afternoon.
Showers and storms expand in coverage this afternoon and
continue that through late evening.

.AVIATION...KSLC...A disturbance and associated cold front will
sweep across the terminal this afternoon bringing a myriad of
impacts. First, gusty S winds (15-25kts) anticipated this morning
with showers in the vicinity. Line of showers with embedded
thunder expected to move across the terminal between 17Z-20Z,
complete with gusty, erratic outflow winds, lightning and perhaps
small hail. Can`t rule out brief reductions to MVFR (25% chance)
with a 10%, with a chance for brief IFR conditions. In the wake of
this wave, isolated to scattered showers and isolated
thunderstorms linger through about 03Z. Wind direction forecast is
highly uncertain after 18Z due to the shower/storm activity, but
confidence increases in the emergence of S winds around 02Z.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Disturbance and associated
cold front will move across Utah and SW Wyoming this afternoon. In
advance of these features, band of showers will continue across
central and NE Utah this morning, with pockets of mountain
obscuration. Clusters of showers and thunderstorms will then move
across central and northern Utah as well as SW Wyoming later this
morning through the afternoon hours. This activity will produce
gusty, erratic outflow winds, brief reductions in CIG/VIS to the IFR
category, lightning and small hail. This activity will gradually
diminish this evening, leaving tranquil conditions overnight.

Prevailing VFR conditions through about the first half of the
period. Two rounds of showers move through the area over the next 24
hours. The first occurs at the start of the period, with most likely
impacts at KRKS through about 15Z. Models have shifted the best
precipitation chances southward, so KRKS could see very little
precipitation. Have kept prevailing rain in the TAF for now, but
confidence is lower. KCPR has about a 10% chance to see a shower.
The next round comes Saturday late afternoon through the evening.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible with this push of moisture.
High-resolution models have a slightly better grasp on starting
times, but struggle with the speed of the system and how long
precipitation chances linger into the evening and early night. Have
attempted to put average start and end times in the TAFs but would
not be surprised to see timings adjust a few hours in either
direction for future issuances.

showers and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening.
Wyoming TAFS...Ceilings will lower from 11000 to 15000 feet
overnight, to 4000 to 8000 feet on Saturday. Showers will be in
the vicinity of the terminals from 15Z to 00Z. Winds will gust
to 25 knots from 15Z to 00Z.
Nebraska TAFS...Mostly clear skies will become broken clouds
around 12000 feet after sunrise, then lower to 6000 to
10000 feet Saturday evening. Showers will be in the vicinity of
the terminals after 00Z, except at Chadron.

No changes to previous reasoning as low level wind shear will
continue for an hour or two after daybreak with a low level jet
dissipating over central Nebraska. Otherwise, expect VFR
conditions with light winds at the surface through early this
morning. There may be a few sprinkles around from some mid
clouds but looking at observations under current radar echoes do
not see much in the way of any precipitation reaching the
ground so will maintain dry conditions and amend if necessary.
Winds will become gusty as diurnal heating mixes the boundary
layer this morning with gusts to 30kt at KLBF but a bit lower at
KVTN. Expect widely scattered showers and thunderstorms to
develop late in the day and will use VCTS for a couple of hours
toward 00Z before returning to dry VFR conditions by the end of
the valid period. Probabilities for some low clouds and fog are

VFR flying conditions this TAF cycle for all terminals. Winds
have begun to increase out of the southeast and will continue
until they reach the 18-23 kt range with gusts of 28-33 kts by
mid-morning. These winds will persist through 00Z when a gradual
weakening trend will commence owing to the loss of boundary
layer mixing. Late in the period, winds will begin to veer to
southwest/westerly then northwesterly as a cold front moves
through southwest KS.

The jetstream will move over NM Saturday morning, then linger
overhead through the day, with strong winds areawide. Winds will
begin gusting out of the southwest in the morning, then the wind
direction will shift out of the west during the afternoon and
evening as a Pacific cold front crosses from the west. Vigorous
thermals will develop over eastern areas, where high temperatures
will climb as much as 8 degrees above 1991-2020 averages. The
Indios Fire near Gallinas Peak and the Blue 2 Fire in the
northern Sacramento Mountains are expected to billow with well-
developed smoke plumes stretching toward the northeast Saturday
afternoon, then toward the east Saturday evening. The Blue Fire`s
plume will probably expand rapidly during mid to late morning, and
continue into the late night hours near and southwest of the fire;
including over KSRR where an MVFR ceiling is likely late Saturday
night with a risk of visibility reduction as well. You may view
