...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, MARINE...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Friday)
Issued at 358 AM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024

Key Messages:

- Hazardous marine/coastal conditions expected through the weekend

Conditions will continue to dry out behind the front yielding highs
in the lower 90s today with lows in 60s across the region! Exciting
right? We can enjoy that the next couple nights with light and
variable winds. In the wake of the front today, winds will be
expected to increase along the nearshore and offshore waters through
the evening leading to Small Craft Advisory conditions. There after
due to 10-12 second period swells associated with Hurricane Helene
in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, those Small Craft Advisory conditions
will persist mainly in the offshore waters with minor coastal
flooding possible during the high tide cycle. With seas remaining
agitated the high risk of rip currents will also be extended through
the weekend. Be sure to exercise extreme caution if heading out to
the beaches.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday night through next Wednesday)
Issued at 358 AM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024

Key Messages:

- Increasing risk of rip currents and potential coastal flooding
late this week as Hurricane Helene moves across the Gulf

Dry conditions are expected into through the weekend with no
significant weather to speak of. Moisture will begin to return early
next week, leading to a low chance of showers and thunderstorms over
the waters. By midweek, we`ll start to see some showers and
thunderstorms over the southern Coastal Plains, mainly due to sea
breeze convection.

Temperatures will remain in the upper 80s along the coast to the mid
90s over the Brush Country. With the drier air in place, it will
feel much more pleasant with only a minor risk of heat related
impacts. Overnight temperatures will be quite a bit cooler, with
lows in the 60s.

Effects from Hurricane Helene will linger into the weekend as 10-12s
swells reach our coastline. This will likely lead to some minor
coastal flooding during times of high tide as well as an increased
risk of rip currents. These conditions will begin to diminish
Saturday night and Sunday though they could linger a bit. Confidence
in minor coastal flooding is moderate to high on Saturday but by
Sunday, confidence is low.

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1233 AM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024

Cold front will be moving off the coast within the hour with drier
air filtering into South Texas in its wake. Skies will gradually
clear out overnight with VFR conditions and light north winds
persisting through the remainder of the forecast period.

.MARINE...
Issued at 358 AM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024

Moderate to strong offshore flow is expected this morning in
response to a passing frontal boundary. A Small Craft Advisory is
in effect across the near and offshore waters north of Port
Aransas. Waves are expected to become elevated offshore this
afternoon in response to Hurricane Helene progressing through the
Gulf, leading to Advisory conditions in the Gulf waters south of
Port Aransas which will likely persist through Saturday. Flow
will transition to weak to moderate this evening allowing the
nearshore waters to likely drop back to Small Craft Should
Exercise Caution conditions. Long period swell and elevated seas
from Hurricane Helene will linger into the weekend before
subsiding Saturday night. Low rain chances will gradually increase
to moderate, mainly over the offshore waters, through the middle
of next week as moisture returns.
