Issued at 309 AM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024 Synoptic scale upper ridging is developing across the entirety of the Great Plains right now and looks to become the dominant feature driving the sensible weather for the many days to come for our area of Kansas. The only dynamic systems will be the cutoff low over the southern Mississippi valley and the increasingly zonal strong upper westerlies across the northern U.S. border. Temperatures in the daytime will not steer far from the normal highs for the last week of September. Normal typical highs for Dodge City is 81 degrees. Through Monday the NBM highs average the upper 70s to around 80 degrees in central Kansas, to the low 80s in the far west and south. Lows overnight are forecast around 50 degrees each morning under completely clear sky though about Friday night or Saturday. Light easterly surface winds each day this week will decouple to variable on the overnights. Models and medium range ensemble means have continued to trend away from and precipitation chances through the at least the next 7 days. Week 2 is also dry with 40-50 percent chances for drier and warmer than normal. && .AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z THURSDAY/...
