Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
312 AM CDT Fri Sep 27 2024

Today:

Some high cloudiness had spread into southeast Iowa early this
morning, but otherwise skies were clear. Temperatures were mainly in
the 50s across the state heading toward daybreak, but a few spots
northeast had dipped into the upper 40s while others remained in the
lower 60s southeast. Winds were light and variable.

Conditions later this morning, and throughout the day for that
matter, should be quite similar to what we saw overnight with some
lingering high clouds southeast but plenty of sunshine elsewhere.
Temperatures should be in the upper 60s to lower 70s by late morning,
with afternoon highs in the upper 70s to middle 80s. Southeast Iowa
may see northeast winds gusting to 15 to 25 mph.

Tonight and beyond:

The outlook for tonight, and even into the start of the next work
week, shows little change from what we have seen recently. There
should be plenty of sunshine with warm and dry conditions. Highs
should be in the upper 70s to middle 80s through Monday with lows in
the 50s. Cooler temperatures are forecast by Tuesday however, with
highs from the middle 60s to around 70 degrees, but it isn`t expected
to last long.

The longer term outlook through the first week of October shows more
of the same with the six to ten day outlook showing above normal
temperatures and below normal precipitation are both likely.
