...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Northeastern Catawba County and west central Iredell
  County in North Carolina.

* WHEN...Until 1000 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams
  and other poor-drainage areas, including farmland, parks,
  greenways, boat-access areas, golf courses, underpasses, and
  parking lots. Isolated, shallow flows over roadways is possible.
  A few flood-prone, low-water crossings may become impassible.  A
  small culvert washout or two is possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 657 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated gauges indicated
    torrential rain due to a slow-moving thunderstorms over small
    streams that feed the Catawba River near the Lake Norman
    Inlet just west of Troutman and south of Statesville.
    Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen over the past 60
    minutes. Resultant excess runoff may result in nuisance
    flooding across the Advisory area.

    The areas of primary concern include along Powder Spring
    Branch near Pineville Rd, Ball Creek near Hudson Chapel Rd,
    and Reeder Creek near Eufola.

    An additional 1-1.5 of rain may occur across the Advisory
    area, especially closer to Stateville as the storms move
    across the city. This may cause additional areas of isolated
    to scattered areas of nuisance poor-drainage flooding to
    develop.

  - Nuisance flooding may occur near or within the following
    locations...
    Statesville, Troutman, Catawba, Lake Norman State Park, Lake
    Norman and Sherrills Ford.
