.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 256 PM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024

As of 3 PM, another quiet afternoon was ongoing across the Plains
with an expansive surface ridging overhead. At this hour
temperatures ranged from the upper 70s to the low 80s with light
winds. Just east of the area, an upper low is becoming cutoff across
the mid-MS Valley. This will keep the surface ridging parked in the
central US through the remainder of the week. An interesting weather
scenario is likely to play out late this week into the weekend with
the remnants of Hurricane Helene interacting with the aforementioned
cutoff upper low. There is the potential for a Fujiwhara effect to
occur with the remnants rotating around the the cutoff low through
the OH valley region. Unfortunately, it`s unlikely any remnant
precipitation is on the way for central and eastern KS. Otherwise,
the upper ridge will break down by early next week with a northern
stream shortwave trough traversing the northern Plains. This will
shunt an additional cold front through the area early to mid next
week.
