.SYNOPSIS...Strong high pressure over the region will keep a lid
on the active weather through the forecast period. Temperatures
will be well above normal for this time of year with readings in
the 80s and 90s with possible record readings for the upcoming
weekend.

&&

.SHORT TERM...Today through Friday night

Dry and quiet weather conditions with plentiful sunshine will be
on tap across northern and central Nevada throughout the short
term period. This is due to a high pressure ridge over the
southwestern United States. High temperatures are forecast to be
in the 80s today with slightly warmer temperatures on Friday with
some of the warmer locales like Winnemucca pushing the 90 degree
mark. Overnight lows will be in the 40s for the most part, though
some of the warmer places could see the low 50s. Afternoon winds
will be occasional breezy though gusts will be limited to 20 to 25
mph.

.LONG TERM...Saturday through next Thursday

An upper-level area of high pressure will be centered near the
Four Corners of the United States Saturday. High temperatures
throughout Northern and Central Nevada will be around fifteen
degrees above normal for this time of year. Near record heat is
expected in Elko, Eureka, and Tonopah Saturday afternoon. The
current record maximum temperature measured in Elko on September
28th is 92 degrees, set in 2010. The current record maximum
temperature measured in Eureka on September 28th is 91 degrees,
set in 2010. The current record maximum temperature measured in
Tonopah on September 28th is 91 degrees, set in 2010. A trough of
low pressure will weaken as it progresses eastward into Central
Nevada Sunday. South to southwest wind gusts near 25 mph are
possible in parts of Northern and Central Nevada each afternoon
and evening this weekend.

The aforementioned anticyclone aloft over the Four Corners of the
United States will weaken early next week. High temperatures both
Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon will be about ten degrees
above seasonal values. Zonal flow aloft is expected Wednesday. A
trough of low pressure will deepen over Northern California next
Thursday. Be that as it may, high temperatures next Thursday
afternoon will be six to eight degrees above normal for this time
of year. Southwest to west wind gusts near 25 mph are possible in
parts of Northern and Central Nevada each afternoon and evening
next Wednesday and Thursday.

.AVIATION...

VFR conditions are forecast at all terminals through the next 24
hour period. Winds will remain light out of the SW 5-15KT with
occasional gusts to 25KT.

KEKO is AMD NOT SKED due to a communications issue.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...

The dry weather pattern will continue through the rest of this
upcoming weekend. High temperatures will be well above normal
levels for this time of the year with readings in the 80s to even
the low 90s in spots, while afternoon minimum relative humidity
values will range in the single digits to low teens. Some
afternoon breezes are possible though on both Saturday and Sunday
afternoon, wind gusts of 25 mph to 30 mph are possible. This is
due to upper level low pressure moving across southwestern
California. Widespread critical fire weather conditions are not
expected at this time, though portions of central and northern
Nevada will see elevated conditions due to the stronger wind gusts
being felt there. Winds are expected to subside on Monday, though
the above normal temperatures will remain.
