OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
302 PM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

High pressure around 30.1 inches will shift to the east of the
region tonight into Friday. Strong low pressure less than 29.2
inches, from the remnants of Helene, will shift into the Ohio
River Valley Friday into Saturday, then slowly weaken into Sunday.
This will bring a tighter pressure gradient to far southern Lake
Michigan during most of this period.

This will result in stronger northeast winds and building waves,
and should see some gale force gusts in far southern portions of
Lake Michigan Friday afternoon and evening. A Gale Watch is in
effect.

High pressure around 30.3 inches should return for later Sunday
into the start of next week, with somewhat weaker northeast winds.
