Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service San Angelo TX
610 AM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024

...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 211 AM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024

Morning infrared satellite imagery shows clear skies across West
Central Texas, and surface observations show mostly calm winds
with temperatures around 59-63 degrees. Expect morning lows to
reach the mid to upper 50s. Meanwhile, water vapor satellite
imagery shows an upper level ridge dominating most of the southern
and central CONUS.

Quiet weather will continue through tonight with surface high
pressure and associated north to northeasterly flow bringing drier
air and also keeping temperatures around seasonal normals. Expect
highs today in the low to mid 80s and lows tonight once again in
the mid to upper 50s.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday through Wednesday)
Issued at 338 AM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024

Quiet, dry, and warm weather expected for the long term. From
Friday through early next week, models are in generally good
agreement that the upper level low will absorb the remnants of
Hurricane Helene, with the low then slowly moving off to the
east/northeast through the middle of next week. However, there is
some disagreement with respect to the speed of the low as it moves
east. Weak upper level troughing will extend southwest into our
area from this low over the weekend. To our west, and upper level
ridge is expected to be maintained, with that ridge eventually
spreading into our area by Tuesday. This will keep our skies
mostly clear with light winds at the surface. Afternoon highs will
be in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees.
