...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT EASTERN POLK...NORTHWESTERN
MARION...SOUTHWESTERN JASPER AND NORTHEASTERN WARREN COUNTIES THROUGH
845 PM CDT...

At 812 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 5
miles south of Mitchellville, or 6 miles southeast of Altoona, moving
east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and additional rainfall up to one
         inch.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Ponding of water on roadways, low
         visibilities, and rises in small streams and creeks.

Locations impacted include...
Des Moines, Ankeny, Newton, Altoona, Pleasant Hill, Carlisle,
Bondurant, Saylorville, Mitchellville, Colfax, Monroe, Prairie City,
Southridge Mall, Adventureland Amusement Park, Iowa Events Center,
Iowa Speedway, Prairie Meadows, Iowa State Fairgrounds, Principal
Park, and Drake Stadium And Knapp Center.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 35 between mile markers 87 and 91.
 Interstate 80 between mile markers 135 and 169.
 Interstate 235 between mile markers 6 and 14.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
