168 FXUS65 KGGW 270837 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 237 AM MDT Fri Sep 27 2024 .DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGES: 1) Warm and dry weather will continue through this weekend. 2) A cold front will approach late Sunday with gusty northwest winds and scattered showers. 3) Cooler and more seasonable temperatures are expected for much of next week. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: The warm and dry weather pattern will continue in place across the region through the upcoming weekend. A cold front is set to approach late Sunday which will drive gusty northwest winds during afternoon and evening hours along with scattered showers. After seeing some locations approaching record highs on Sunday, temperatures should be around 25 to 30 degrees colder on Monday. Cooler temperatures that are near or below normal are expected much of next week following the cold frontal passage. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: High confidence exists on both the warm weather through the weekend and the cooler temperatures next week. Medium confidence exists on shower chances on Sunday afternoon with the cold front with timing and placement issues needing to be resolved. Will stay the course and keep the forecast in line with NBM for now which captures expected trends well. && .AVIATION... Look for VFR conditions throughout the upcoming taf cycle. Winds will be south at 5 to 8 kts through 18z, then becoming west at 5 to 15 kts through 03Z this evening.
