025 FXUS65 KLKN 222047 AFDLKN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Elko NV 147 PM PDT Sun Sep 22 2024 .SYNOPSIS...High Pressure building in from the Pacific will deliver quiet conditions, light winds, and slowly warming temperatures through the end of the week. && .SHORT TERM...Today and Monday High Pressure continues to build in over the state leading to quiet weather to start the week. Dry northerly flow aloft will bring a few passing clouds and slowly warming, yet seasonable to slightly above average temperatures with cool calm mornings. Temperatures through Tuesday morning look to be in the mid 70s to mid 80s for highs, and overnight lows falling into the mid 30s to upper 40s. Winds will light, and generally out of the north at 5 MPH to 15 MPH with a few gusts up to 25 MPH. .LONG TERM...Tuesday through next Sunday. High pressure dominates the first half of the week, with a weak trough behind it bringing some breezy winds on Wednesday in the 15-20 mph range. Flow then shifts to nearly zonal, allowing a quiet end to the week. High temperatures each afternoon will be in the 70s on Tuesday, warming into the 70s and 80s by Wednesday and lasting through the week. Overnight lows will cool into the 40s for the most part. && .AVIATION...VFR conditions continue at all TAF sites through the next 24 hour period with generally light winds expected. && .FIRE WEATHER...A quiet, tranquil pattern continues with high pressure building in from the Pacific. Light northerly winds at 5 MPH to 15 MPH with gusts up to 25 MPH and partly cloudy skies through Tuesday. This quiet pattern continues as high pressure becomes centered over Nevada Wednesday which will further decrease clouds and winds. As this ridge shifts east Thursday bringing NV under SW flow aloft, continued partly cloudy to mostly clear skies, and light southwest winds of 5 MPH to 15 MPH with a few gusts up to 25 MPH possible. && .LKN Watches/Warnings/Advisories...
