Coastal Waters Forecast for the Lower Texas Coast

Lower Texas coastal waters from Baffin Bay to the mouth of the
Rio Grande out 60 NM.

Seas are provided as a range of the average height of the highest
1/3 of the waves, along with the occasional height of the average
highest 10 percent of the waves.

.SYNOPSIS...The passage of a cold front today will bring increased
winds and seas to the Lower Texas Coastal waters. Additionally,
swell arriving from Hurricane Helene may further enhance seas
later this afternoon through Friday. Winds and seas are expected
to subside this weekend as high pressure returns across the
Northern Gulf.

.TODAY...North winds 10 to 15 knots, increasing to 15 to 20 knots
early this afternoon, then diminishing to 10 to 15 knots late
this afternoon. A moderate chop on the bay, increasing to choppy
early this afternoon, then diminishing to a moderate chop late
this afternoon.
.TONIGHT...Northeast winds 10 to 15 knots, diminishing to 5 to
10 knots in the late evening and early morning, then becoming
northwest early in the morning. A moderate chop on the bay,
diminishing to light chop in the late evening and early morning,
then diminishing to smooth early in the morning.
.FRIDAY...Northwest winds 5 to 10 knots, becoming northeast late
in the afternoon. Light chop on the bay, diminishing to smooth
early in the afternoon, then increasing to light chop late in the
afternoon.
.FRIDAY NIGHT...East winds around 5 knots, becoming southwest
early in the morning. Smooth on the bay.
