Winds will become light and variable after ~15Z Sat, with
generally east/southeast flow favored later in the day with signs
of DCVZ development to the SW of KDEN. However, wind direction is
the most uncertain variable for Saturday and will likely be
driven by thunderstorm outflows in the afternoon. Primary window
for any convective activity in the vicinity of the Denver metro is
20-02Z. Dry low levels should lead to relatively high bases
at/above 080-090, so leaning towards mostly isolated high-based
showers/virga for I-15 corridor, with stronger storms more favored
for areas to the east of KDEN. Expect return to south/southwest
drainage flow Saturday evening.

KCOS and KPUB..VFR conditions are expected through the majority of
the TAF period. Chances for showers and storms in the vicinity of
KCOS will be highest from 21Z until 01Z, and from 22Z until 00Z at
KPUB. MVFR ceilings and visibilities, along with lightning and gusty
winds will be possible with any storms that move over or near either
station today.
KALS...VFR conditions are expected for KALS for the next 24 hours.
Westerly winds are expected through the forecast period, with gusts
to 22kt during peak heating today. Some showers and weak
thunderstorms will be possible along the terrain surrounding the
station, though chances of any storms moving within the vicinity are

Prevailing VFR conditions through the TAF period. Isolated showers
and thunderstorms will be around this afternoon and early evening.
The best chances (30% to 50%) occur at KLND and KRKS. Lesser chances
(15% or less) occur at most other sites though. Given the lower
chances, other sites do not have rain chance mentioned in TAFs. KCPR
would be the most likely, with about 15% to 20% chances between
roughly 23Z/Sat and 03Z/Sun. High-resolution models are very
inconsistent with rain placement, so confidence is low at this time.
These showers, especially in the vicinity of KCPR and KRKS (but
could occur at most sites this afternoon) could bring strong
outflows, the highest potential gusts being 40 to 50 mph. These
winds will be the biggest threat through this evening.
Some low rain chances (15% to 30%) move into western Wyoming between
06Z/Sun and 12Z/Sun, with KJAC being the potential impacted terminal
there.

The overnight thunderstorm threat is winding down now, with a
few storms near KCDR and KAIA but should wrap up by 13z. These
storms have left an expansive deck of low clouds in their wake,
producing MVFR to IFR conditions at NE panhandle terminals.
Expect this to gradually break up through the morning and lift
completely around midday.
After that, attention turns to the next round of showers and
thunderstorms expected this afternoon. These should develop
around 19-20z in Wyoming and then move into Nebraska around
21-22z. Multiple rounds are possible, and its tough to estimate
the most probable timing for any one terminal at this time.
Therefore, left things as VCSH for several terminals, but it`s
worth noting that thunder is quite likely, it`s just a question
of when this will occur. Activity may continue well into the
evening and early overnight, wrapping up around 08-09z early
Sunday. Storms will have the potential to produce gusty winds,
brief VIS drops in rainfall, and hail (mainly in Nebraska).

A few aviation weather concerns exist through the forecast
period, including thunderstorms, low ceilings, and potentially
fog. The first wave of moisture continues during the early to
mid morning with bouts of heavy rain and possibly hail. IFR
ceilings and visby are also possible for the southern terminals
(LBF) around sunrise due to fog. Another round of storms will
likely develop in the panhandle late afternoon and approach LBF
toward sunset. Meanwhile, generally light east surface winds
will strengthen during the day and transition to
south/southeast.

For KGLD... Fog is burning off and should not return with
southwesterly winds at the surface. VFR conditions is forecast
for the remainder of the period, though there is a 10% chance
for fog tonight. As long as the winds are from the south to
southwest tonight, fog is not expected to form. Otherwise, the
other main concern is the potential for storms this afternoon
and evening. The best time for storms is around 23Z, but there
is a 15% chance that storms could form as early as 19Z. Storms
could be severe with very large hail and wind gusts to 70 mph.
For KMCK... Fog and mist continue to oscillate at the site
between IFR and MVFR conditions. The forecast looked favorable
for 1/4sm, but may need to amend if it doesn`t materialize in
the next hour. Otherwise, ceilings could remain around a few
hundred feet through most of the morning hours. The afternoon
hours should be VFR with little concern for storms, but starting
00Z and especially be 02Z is when storm chances increase. The
storms could be severe with large hail and wind gusts to 70 mph.
Otherwise, VFR conditions should persist the rest of the period
after the storms, but will need to watch for a low chance
(20-30%) of fog.

Latest surface observations show clear skies/VFR flying
conditions prevail across all terminals, with south-southwest
winds in the 10-15 kt range. Later this afternoon/early evening,
thunderstorm development is expected near the KS/CO border,
expanding in coverage with time as it moves east-southeast.
This activity will likely impact all terminals, with the highest
confidence at DDC, GCK, and LBL during the 23-04Z time frame,
bringing MVFR/IFR or lower cigs and vis. Once convection exits
the area, south-southeast winds will resume aoa 12 kts through
sunrise. Towards the end of the period around 13-14Z, winds will
increase out of the south into the 17-22 kt range with gusts of
27-32 kts.

A linear segment of slow-moving storms between KTCC and KCVS at
6am is expected to dissipate thru 10am. Widespread low VFR and
patchy MVFR cigs over eastern NM will also clear thru mid morning.
The next round of SHRA/TS will then develop along the east slopes
of the central mt chain by 2pm then move east/southeast across the
plains thru sunset. Some of these storms will become strong to
severe with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain possible.
Low clouds may redevelop tonight but likely much farther east
toward the TX/NM border.
