567 FZUS63 KMQT 231405 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 1005 AM EDT Thu May 23 2024 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS...A 29.4 inch low pressure currently over James Bay will continue to weaken and slowly drift northeast into Quebec today. In its wake, 29.9 inch ridging will build across Lake Superior through tonight. This ridging shifts east late Thursday night into Friday as a 29.7 inch low lifts northeast through the Northern Plains. Weak troughing of 29.8 inches moves over Lake Superior by Saturday. By Sunday, the troughing will move northeast over northern Ontario as another low of 29.4 inches lifts from the Southern Plains towards the Upper Great Lakes. This low moves over lower Michigan Monday morning and becomes centered over Lake Huron Monday evening.
