The severe thunderstorm which prompted the warning has moved out of
the warned area. Therefore, the warning has been cancelled.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for District of
Columbia...southern and central Maryland...and northern Virginia.

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 845 PM EDT
FOR SOUTH CENTRAL ARLINGTON...SOUTHEASTERN FAIRFAX...AND EAST CENTRAL
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTIES...THE CITY OF FAIRFAX AND THE CITY OF
ALEXANDRIA...
At 813 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Burke, or near
Fairfax, moving east at 30 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to
fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage
homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed
trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured
light objects may become projectiles.
Locations impacted include...
Arlington, Alexandria, Dale City, Annandale, Springfield, Fort
Washington, Fairfax, Fort Hunt, Groveton, Huntington, Mantua, Fort
Belvoir, Woodbridge, National Harbor, Lake Ridge, Burke, Lincolnia,
Lorton, Franconia, and Hybla Valley.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for District of
Columbia...southern and central Maryland...and northern Virginia.
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
