Five new tornadoes not previously reported have been identified: Tarnov-Leigh Tornado, Howells Tornado, Snyder Tornado, Missouri Valley Tornado, and Elliot Tornado. The new Bellevue/Offutt AFB/Old Towne Bellevue Tornado replaces the previous 2 Bellevue and Old Towne Bellevue tornadoes. This is a net total of 16 tornadoes for this derecho. In addition to the tornadoes, a downburst created widespread damage across western Harrison county and the summary is toward the bottom of this message. ..Tarnov-Leigh Tornado... The tornado continued moving east across Platte County, damaging outbuildings of a goat farm, producing high-end EF- 0 damage. The tornado moved east to damage the farmhouse, outbuildings and trees of another goat farm, producing high-end EF-0 damage. The tornado moved slightly north of east tracking into Colfax County, damaging the roof of a large livestock barn, producing EF-1 damage. It moved northeast across agricultural fields between County Road T and County Road U. As it crossed County Road 14, it snapped several wood power poles. The tornado continued tracking northeast crossing near the intersection of County Road 15 and County Road V, about 1.5 miles southeast of Howells. The tornado`s width varied from from one-tenth to one-third of mile along its track. Estimated Peak Wind: 107 mph Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/24/2024 Start Time: 02:45 AM CDT Survey Summary: Downburst wind damage with a maximum speed of 107 mph caused widespread wind damage across nearly 13 square miles in western Harrison county. This damage began 4 miles west of Modale where center pivots were overturned. The damage extended eastward into the Loess Hills where numerous trees were snapped, uprooted, and topped. Several power lines were downed in this area as well.
