.SHORT TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 240 AM CDT Fri Sep 27 2024

Clear skies are in place early this morning as the dual circulations
of Hurricane Helene and an upper low remain positioned well to
our east. Clouds associated with these systems will begin to
filter westward later today, but shouldn`t amount to much more
than some high clouds in our eastern counties tonight. Otherwise,
temperatures will be fairly similar to yesterday`s readings in
most spots, with highs this afternoon in the 80s. Lows tonight
will be a bit warmer with more clouds around, in the upper 50s to
low 60s.

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday through Thursday)
Issued at 240 AM CDT Fri Sep 27 2024

Seasonable temperatures will continue through the weekend as
northerly flow is maintained on the backside of the weakening
remnant circulation of Hurricane Helene. Return flow will then setup
briefly ahead of a cold front that will reach our area next Tuesday.
With the parent upper trough displaced well to our north, this front
is forecast to weaken rather quickly and will not bring a
significant airmass change, with temperatures back at or above
average by Wednesday. No precipitation is expected given the lack of
forcing and moisture.

kts this afternoon. Surface winds become light after 00Z backing
slightly north- northwest, then veering north at 10 kt gusting to
20 kts after 16Z.
