...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1988, baseball sized hail was reported near 5 PM local time in
Dundy County in southwest Nebraska. No injuries or property damage
were reported, despite the size of the hail.  Later that night at
approximately 9 PM, a strong thunderstorm wind gust was reported in
Hitchcock County, though the exact magnitude remains unknown.
