952 FXUS65 KREV 260723 AFDREV Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Reno NV 1223 AM PDT Thu Sep 26 2024 .SYNOPSIS... * Temperatures will stay well above average through the end of September with light daytime breezes. * Lower confidence the first week of October. Some signs of increased breezes and a gradual cooling, but chances for any precipitation are staying quite low. && .DISCUSSION... * Above average heights will persist through the weekend into early next week with ensemble spread small. Temperatures will be 10+ degrees above average which puts afternoon highs pushing 90 degrees in warmest western NV valleys and 80 degrees for Sierra communities. Using Reno-Tahoe Intl Airport for context: This morning`s blended guidance shows Saturday as the warmest day with 92 degrees. This is 13 degrees above average for the date but 3 degrees shy of the record high of 95 degrees. * There may be a slight bump in southwest winds Saturday afternoon, but guidance keeps gusts close to a more typical afternoon breeze with gusts around 25 mph for most spots. Otherwise, no big wind signals through early next week. * The long range (first week of October) continues to indicate some uncertainty with larger model spread in winds and temperatures as ensemble clusters vary on location and timing of east Pacific trough. Signs favor a gradual cooling with a return to afternoon southwest breezes, but confidence in magnitude remains low. In either case, the pattern does not favor precipitation with chances remaining below 15%. Hohmann && .AVIATION... VFR conditions through the weekend. Lighter winds today and Friday.
