...NWS Damage Survey for the Briscoe County Tornado and Swisher County
Giant Hail Event...

.Overview...
Early on the evening of Sunday, June 2nd, a supercell thunderstorm developed
in far northern Swisher County. The storm crossed an outflow boundary as it
moved east across northern and eastern Swisher County resulting in increasing
rotation and development of a low-level mesocyclone. Storm chasers reported a
tornado as the storm crossed into western Briscoe County. As this tornado was
dissipating by around 8:10 PM CDT, another tornado began developing on the western
flank of the first, becoming the dominant tornado by roughly 8:14 pm CDT. For 4-5
minutes both tornadoes appeared to be in contact with the ground simultaneously.
The 2nd tornado remained over open terrain to the east of County Road 207 and
Highway 86 before dissipating just east of the Caprock Escarpment to the northeast
of Silverton by 8:34 pm CDT. Since the tornado tracks roughly overlapped in time
and space, and neither produced any observable damage, we consolidated both into
one track.

Emergency Manager and other area officials conducted an evaluation
and determined that there was no significant damage.

.Giant Hail Stone reported in Eastern Swisher County...

A storm chaser posted photographs of a hailstone estimated around 6 to 7 inches
in diameter on social media. The hailstone was found 3 miles west-northwest
of Vigo Park at 7:37 PM CDT. These photographs suggest that it may be larger in
diameter and/or circumference than the current largest hailstone recorded in
the state of Texas, which fell on April 28, 2021 near Hondo, Texas and was measured
to be 6.416 inches in length. These photographs have been submitted to the Insurance
Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS) for image analysis to determine if its
dimensions can be confirmed.
