HIGHLANDS DUE TO STRONG WIND, LOW HUMIDITY, AND AN UNSTABLE
ATMOSPHERE...

.The ongoing fire growing pattern will wane some today with
critical fire weather conditions focused on the Northeast
Highlands, where winds will be strongest this afternoon. However,
winds will become strong areawide on Saturday as an upper level
trough draws the jetstream over New Mexico with widespread
critical fire weather conditions over the northwest half of the
fire weather forecast area. Critical-to-extreme fire weather
conditions are forecast over the southeast half of the forecast
area on Saturday, where wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected with
Haines Indices varying from 5 to 6. In the wake of the upper
level trough on Sunday, winds will trend weaker while remaining
strong enough for one more day of critical fire weather
conditions across the Central Highlands.

THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING...

* AREA AND TIMING...Northeast Highlands (Zone 123) today from 3
  to 7 PM, and Saturday from 11 AM to 9 PM.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...For today, south and southwest winds 15 to 25
  mph with gusts up to 35 mph. For Saturday, southwest winds 25
  to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values 11 to 17 percent today, and
  around 10 percent Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

  11 AM until 9 PM and Sunday from noon until 8 PM.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...For Saturday, west and southwest 25 to 35 mph
  with gusts up to 50 mph. For Sunday, west and northwest 15 to
  25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values around 10 percent on
  Saturday and around 12 percent on Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
  Outdoor burning is not recommended..

* AREA AND TIMING...Northwest Plateau (Zone 101), West Central
  Mountains (Zone 105), West Central Basin and Range (Zone 109),
  Middle Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106), Upper Rio Grande Valley
  and Lower Chama River Valley (Zone 121), North Central, Sangre
  de Cristo, Sandia, and Manzano Mountains (Zones 120, 122, and
  124), and the Northeast and East Central Plains (Zones 104 and
  126) Saturday from 11 AM until 9 PM.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...West and southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up
  to 40 mph, except 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph along
  and east of the central mountain chain.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values from 6 to 16 percent with
  locally higher values in the mountains near the Colorado
  border.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
  Outdoor burning is not recommended..
