046 WWAK47 PAJK 062340 WSWAJK URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Juneau AK 240 PM AKST Sat Dec 6 2025 ...SNOW FOR THE NORTHERN PANHANDLE THIS WEEKEND... .A pattern change is bringing colder temperatures and strong outflow winds extending southward through the weekend. This pattern, in combination with prolonged moisture, is producing accumulating heavy snow for the Haines and Klondike highways and communities of the northern panhandle. Heavy to moderate snow has begun over the Icy Strait Corridor due to the arctic boundary moving south of the Gustavus - Juneau area. The next band of heavier precipitation is expected to move through tonight into Sunday morning. Snow is also expected to become lighter and less dense as the event goes on following the drying trend. Cold temperatures are expected to continue to spread southward into early next week, increasing potential for a long duration snowfall event. As the band of precipitation moves south snow accumulations spread into the southern panhandle, including the Hyder area, into Monday night.
