URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Juneau AK
241 PM AKST Mon Dec 8 2025

...SNOW FOR THE PANHANDLE INTO EARLY WEEK...

The arctic boundary is currently entering the southern third of
the panhandle, with snow expected to become the more dominant
precipitation type around the Petersburg & Wrangell areas, soon.
The next system moving up from the south for Monday looks to
bring moderate-to-heavy, short-duration snowfall rates to
primarily the northern half of Prince of Wales Island, Wrangell,
and Petersburg. The band of snow is expected to move northward
during the day Monday, with the high uncertainty being how far
north the deeper moisture will move north.

For Tuesday, another system looks to pass into Dixon Entrance,
bringing mixed precipitation and snow for the southern panhandle.
The arctic boundary is expected to move south of Annette Island
by late tonight, but there is some uncertainty regarding how
stable the cold air will be, and whether the southerly, warmer
winds ahead of the system will mix down to the surface.
