Lake effect precipitation continues to transition from wet snow to rain this morning, with temperatures already above freezing across the area. Additional snow accumulations 1 to 3 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Greatest accumulations will be on the Tug Hill Plateau and through Jefferson County. * WHERE...The Eastern Lake Ontario Region. * WHEN...Until 1 PM EST this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Wednesday morning commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will change over to plain rain at the lower elevations late this morning and through the afternoon. Minor additional accumulations expected across the Tug Hill and Western Adirondacks through tonight. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities. Submit snow reports through our website or social media. During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions just a few miles away.
