Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
244 PM MDT Sun May 5 2024

...A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 7 PM MDT today
for the San Luis Valley...

...A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 10 AM to 10 PM Monday
for portions of south central and southeast Colorado...

...A Fire Weather Watch has been issued from Tuesday morning
through Tuesday evening for portions of south central and
southeast Colorado.

.Discussion...

While a quick burst of wind driven snow impacts the Continental
Divide tonight, the remainder of southern Colorado will see strong
winds and high fire danger for both Tuesday and Wednesday across
the San Luis valley, southeast mountains and southern portions of
the plains where fuels are critical. Critical fire weather conditions
will likely return again for Wednesday. Then cooler and wetter
weather will settle in for Thursday into next weekend with rounds of
rain and mountain snow showers possible.

Afternoon smoke dispersions will become excellent both Monday
and Tuesday afternoons due to strong winds and deep atmospheric
mixing.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
