...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING THE WATERS...

  Waters from Altamaha Sound GA to Fernandina Beach FL from 20 to 60

  Waters from Fernandina Beach to St. Augustine FL from 20 to 60
  NM...

At 519 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from 9 nm northwest of St. Simons
Island to 54 nm northeast of Suwannee River, moving southeast at 25
knots.

Locations impacted include...
Buoy Hlha, Dorothy Louise Barge, Casablanca Reef, High Point, Nassau
Sound Approach Buoy 6a, Buoy F, Vilano Beach, St Simons Island
Village, Palm Valley, St. Simons Island, Talbot Island, Saint Andrews
Sound, Saint Johns Lighted Buoy, Dungeness, St Simons Sound Buoy 9,
Navy Drydock, Atlantic Beach, Saint Augustine Beach, Mayport, and
Tournament Reef.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds possibly exceeding 30 knots, locally
higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass later this afternoon.

These thunderstorms could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A
Special Marine Warning may eventually be required when these storms
reach the coastal waters. Boaters should consider heading for shore
before these strong thunderstorms arrives. If you will be caught
offshore secure your vessel for heavy weather. All crew and
passengers should have an available USCG approved floatation device.
Harnesses and jacklines should be readied in case they become
necessary.
