.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1018 AM EDT Fri May 3 2024

It has been a quiet morning across the Florida Keys forecast area.
KBYX is only detecting one or two small showers in the distant
Straits of Florida, with no other meteorological echoes to be
found. This morning`s sounding highlighted a drier atmospheric
profile than yesterday with a PW of 1.13", which is right around
the 25th percentile for this time of year. GOES visible satellite
is depicting few to scattered low level cumulus traversing the
forecast area from the east, leading to partly cloudy to mostly
clear skies along the island chain. The abundant sunshine has
allowed temperatures to already breach 80 degrees this morning in
all island communities. Dew points are around 70 degrees, leading
to a muggier early May morning. Winds have lulled since earlier
this morning, with marine observation platforms measuring winds of
10 to 15 knots along the Reef. Through tonight, winds will begin
to creep back up, peaking overnight. Rain chances will remain
slight, but drier air and a stable environment will squash most
attempts at shower development. The forecast remains on track and
no changes were necessary.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1018 AM EDT Fri May 3 2024

There are no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect for the
Florida Keys coastal waters. From synopsis, high pressure will
persist over the western North Atlantic for the next several days
resulting in an extended period of moderate to fresh easterly
breezes. Breezes will tend to peak overnight, followed by lulls in
the afternoon.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 1018 AM EDT Fri May 3 2024

VFR conditions will prevail at both EYW and MTH through the 24 hour
TAF period with near-surface winds between 10 and 15 kts. Occasional
gusts near 20 kts are possible, but have been left out of the TAFs
due to the lack of predictability in timing. Skies remain SCT around
2k to 3k ft, but rain chances are low at 10 percent.
