.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1030 AM EDT Tue Apr 9 2024
Besides for the wind this morning, it is a another nice day across
the Florida Keys with plenty of sunshine. GOES 16 Visible
satellite imagery shows some fair weather cumulus and altocumulus
streaming from southeast to northwest through the Florida Keys
with a few of these clouds occasionally moving over some Island
Chain communities. Temperatures along the Island Chain are in the
mid to upper 70s with dew points in the lower to mid 60s. The 12z
RAOB from this morning showed another rather dry profile with dry
air from the surface up to approximately 850 mb. Slight moistening
is present between 850 mb and 825 mb in this narrow layer before
a ton of dry air is present above this layer to the top of the
atmosphere. Due to this, no change expected to the ongoing
forecast. Lastly, strong surface high pressure is present over
the western North Atlantic which is leading to mainly east to
southeast flow through the Keys. As a result, marine platforms
around the Keys are observing east to southeast winds near 20
knots with Island Chain communities observing near 20 mph.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1030 AM EDT Tue Apr 9 2024
A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for all Florida Keys
marine zones, with east to southeast winds sustained at near 20
knots, and seas up to 7 feet in the Straits of Florida. From
synopsis, surface high pressure will continue to move further
offshore in the western North Atlantic and strengthen. East to
southeast breezes will respond, remaining fresh to strong this
afternoon through Wednesday. Breezes will then slacken slowly and
veer to the south ahead of a weak front that is progged to push
through the Florida Keys coastal waters Thursday night. In the
wake of the front, breezes will veer steadily back to the
northeast to east, as another high pressure system moves across
the Southeast and into the western North Atlantic late in the week
and into the weekend.
