Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
139 PM CDT Tue Mar 26 2024

.DISCUSSION...

As winds continue to diminish areawide, fire weather concerns the
next few days will also alleviate somewhat. However, elevated
conditions remain possible due to low RHs and a significant warming
and drying trend progged to get underway on Wednesday. Winds shift
to the west and begin increasing once again Friday, leading to near
critical or critical fire weather conditions from the Guadalupe Mtns
south to the Davis Mtns and adjacent areas, with winds progged to
increase further over the weekend. This will occur concurrently with
temperatures reaching around 15 to 20 degrees above normal by Saturday
and Sunday, and potential for more widespread near critical and
critical fire weather conditions as fuels cure.
