.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1030 PM EDT Wed Apr 24 2024
It is a gorgeous evening across the Florida Keys. KBYX radar is
quiet with GOES 16 Nighttime Microphysics showing virtually a
clear sky across the Keys. The only clouds that can be found are
over the distant Straits of Florida in the form of cumulus along
with some altocumulus clouds coming off of Southwest Florida.
Temperatures along the Island Chain are in the mid 70s with dew
points in the lower to mid 60s. Sprawling high pressure remains in
control over the western North Atlantic with the western
periphery of this high extending westward through the Florida
Peninsula and into the Gulf of Mexico. As a result, marine
platforms around the Keys are observing mainly east winds of 10 to
15 knots with Island Chain communities observing 5 to 10 mph.

.SHORT TERM FORECAST...
The aforementioned high pressure is expected to continue to
dominate through the overnight period. The 00z RAOB also showed a
fairly dry profile from the surface up to the top of the
atmosphere with the exception of the layer between 850 mb to 825
mb where some moisture remains trapped beneath an inversion.
Therefore, expect the overnight period to remain dry with breezes
remaining gentle to moderate at the east. Also, with light to
gentle breezes along the Island Chain, some places may dip into
the lower 70s overnight as the office backyard is already below 74
degrees at this hour.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1030 PM EDT Wed Apr 24 2024
There are currently no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect
across the Florida Keys coastal waters. From synopsis, gentle to
moderate breezes will prevail over the next couple of days as high
pressure moves from the Southeastern states offshore into the
western Atlantic. This high will be subsumed into a larger high
spreading into the western North Atlantic late this week and into
the weekend. This will be accompanied by freshening easterly
breezes across the Keys waters.

.AVIATION...
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 1030 PM EDT Wed Apr 24 2024
VFR conditions will prevail at both EYW and MTH through the
TAF period. Near surface winds are expected to remain northeast to
easterly and mainly 10 knots or less.
