...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM...
.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Thursday Night)
Issued at 222 AM CDT Wed Apr 17 2024
Most of the precip has ended or moved east of the area as of early
this Wed morning...but some lingering spotty SHRA will still be
possible across SERN sections this morning. Further west...some
patchy fog was noted where winds were calm and where areas saw
rainfall on Tue. The drier/cooler air remains NW of the area...which
will allow for warm conditions this Wed afternoon. SRLY flow will
continue...with highs in the 80s for most areas. Some areas could be
approaching 90 across the north where drier air will attempt to sag
south.
Precip chances will remain low tonight into early Thu...but chances
for convection return to the forecast Thu afternoon/night as a cold
front moves SE into the state. The best chances for precip will be
late Thu afternoon across the NWRN portion of the area...then
shifting SE with the front Thu night. While a strong to SVR storm
could be seen...the timing with the activity during the overnight
period looks to limit some of the SVR potential.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday through Tuesday)
Issued at 222 AM CDT Wed Apr 17 2024
To begin the period, zonal flow aloft will bring an unsettled
weather pattern across the state through much of the weekend. By
Friday, a cold front is expected to move across the state stalling
just to the south of the CWA. This stalled front will keep PoPs
elevated in the forecast through the weekend. By Monday...high
pressure begins to move back into the state...bringing back those
calm and dry conditions.
While there is still some model uncertainty regarding exact details
associated with these systems...it does appear unsettled weather is
expected through much of the long term period. Changes to the
forecast are possible this far out so continue to check back in for
additional updates.
Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 50s to lower 70s with
overnight lows in the lower 40s to mid 50s through Monday. Warmer
temperatures are expected Tuesday with highs in the mid 70s to lower
80s across the state with overnight lows in the low to mid 50s.
