Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
330 AM CDT Fri Apr 19 2024

.DISCUSSION...

A weak cold front is seeping southeastward with light northwest
wind now at Tyler and Longview and nearing Texarkana. Light
southerly winds will continue south of I-20 for several hours,
but shift to north at Lufkin, Shreveport and El Dorado before
daybreak. Monroe and Natchitoches will shift last. There is a
slight chance for a few showers to develop along this front
anytime today, but coverage will remain sparse as the upper
support lifts away over Arkansas and across the MS River.
A secondary impulse will begin to boost coverage of showers and
isolated thunderstorms along I-20 later today and continue to
expand during Friday night. The best wetting rains will come
overnight, Saturday and Saturday night ahead of the colder air.
So look for N/NE winds to filter down today and linger NE for
days. Skies will eventually clear out during Sunday with cooler
temps into the new work week.
