.DISCUSSION...
A cool and dry airmass remains in place over the Southeast, with
surface high pressure settling into the region. After mid-level
clouds in central Georgia diminish this afternoon, skies will be
mostly clear through Tuesday night. Relative humidity values this
afternoon will range from near 25 percent in far northwest Georgia
to 35 percent in central Georgia. While RH values may briefly drop
below 25 percent for a couple of hours in far northwest Georgia, it
appears that it will be too brief (and with 10-hour fuel moistures
still too moist) for a Fire Danger Statement at this time. Winds
this afternoon will be primarily 5-10 mph, from NW in north Georgia
and NE in central Georgia, before becoming light and variable
overnight. Winds on Tuesday are forecast to be SE at 8-12 mph in
north Georgia and S at 5-10 mph in central Georgia. Minimum RH
values will range from 25-35 percent across the majority of the
forecast area, this time with the lowest values in east-central
Georgia.
