...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1932, a late afternoon dust storm struck Thomas County raging
into the night. A dull red glow lit the sky. Tree leaves withered
and wheat fields were badly scorched. Spring flowers exposed to the
storm were as dry as paper and turned to powder and blew away.
