Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
450 PM EDT Mon May 6 2024

.DISCUSSION...
The combination of increased moisture, lift, and instability will
favor a daily risk of showers and thunderstorms through mid-week,
with the greatest coverage through this evening. Where
thunderstorms occur, strong wind gusts of 40+ mph will be a risk.
While the coverage of thunderstorms will be lower Tuesday and
Wednesday, the risk of strong wind gusts and hail will be higher
(if thunderstorms can develop). Outside of thunderstorm activity,
a background southwesterly wind will dominate, and will be the
strongest on Tuesday and Wednesday.
