...The National Weather Service in Marquette is continuing the Flood
Advisory for the Sturgeon River near Chassell in Houghton County...

.A steady rise has been observed on the Sturgeon River near Chassell
over the past few days due to snow melt in the area. This snow melt will
continue across the Sturgeon River drainage basin over the next few days,
allowing rises on the Sturgeon River near Chassell to continue.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Safety message...Residents along these rivers should remain alert and
exercise caution when walking near riverbanks.

A Flood Advisory means minor flooding is possible and rivers are
forecast to exceed bankfull. If you are in the advisory area remain
alert to possible flooding...or the possibility of the advisory being
upgraded to a warning. Report observed flooding to local emergency
services or law enforcement and request they pass this information on
to the National Weather Service.

The Flood Advisory continues for
  The Sturgeon River near Chassell
* until Friday morning.
* At 5 PM Wednesday the stage was 9.9 feet.
* Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.5 feet.
* At 10.5 feet...The river begins to overflow onto Sturgeon River
  Road...Rajala Road...and Aho Road.
