Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NW Oregon and SW Washington
National Weather Service Portland OR
215 PM PDT Sun May 27 2018

...A LITTLE COOLER MEMORIAL DAY...
...INCREASING PRECIPITATION CHANCES LATE IN THE WEEK...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...Stronger onshore flow Monday brings cooler
conditions compared to Sunday. An upper level trough approaches
Tuesday, maintaining a deep marine layer. The cooler pattern
continues the latter half of the week with a better chance of
precipitation late in the week.

.DISCUSSION...High pressure over the forecast area will weaken
during the next couple of days. The marine layer deepens tonight and
Memorial Day, which will start a short period of cooler conditions.
An upper level trough approaches the region Tuesday, maintaining a
deep marine layer. The upper trough moves across Western Washington
and Northwest Oregon Wednesday. This could bring some drizzle or
light rain to the north zones, especially Southwest Washington. A
better chance of precipitation can be expected late in the week as a
stronger upper level impacts the Pacific Northwest late in the week.
This will be the best chance for widespread precipitation in quite
awhile. However, confidence in wetting rain amounts remains low at
this time. Longer range models show the upper trough lingering
through much of next weekend.

Note: Routine briefings will begin at 940 AM Tuesday, May 29th.
Access information for the briefing has changed. Please contact
your local fire management official to get your information
relayed to us.
