Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest and South-Central
Arizona and Southeast California
National Weather Service Phoenix AZ
221 PM MST Wed Apr 18 2018

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM MST THURSDAY FOR
SOUTHERN GILA COUNTY AND THE TONTO NATIONAL FOREST FOOTHILLS AND
THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST ARIZONA DESERTS...DUE TO STRONG
WINDS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND HIGH FIRE DANGER...

.DISCUSSION...

A vigorous upper level low will move across the area Thursday into
Friday bringing cooler high temperatures and strong gusty winds as
well as increasing humidity. Gusty west winds Thursday will result
in patchy blowing dust over the lower deserts, and peak gusts over
favored areas such as higher terrain of far southeast California
and southern Gila County will exceed 35 mph at times. Humidity
will remain low enough over the central deserts and southern Gila
County to result in dangerous fire weather conditions Thursday
afternoon and early evening. Much less wind is expected Friday.
High temperatures will cool into the upper 70s Friday over
portions of south-central Arizona.

Note...Additional Fire Weather Forecast information can be found
in the Area Forecast Discussion. See product PHXAFDPSR.
