...River Statement For The Coosa River...

.Heavy rainfall this week produce rises on the Coosa River. However,
levels are expected to remain below established flood stages, and
any overflow along the river should be of minor nature.


The Coosa River at Weiss Dam.
* At 9:00 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 562.8 feet.
* Action stage is 564.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 567.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to 566.5 feet Sunday
  morning. Additional rises are possible thereafter.
* Impact...At 565.5 feet...Some minor flooding of docks begins in
  places such as the Bay Springs area.

Another statement will be issued by Wednesday morning, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for
later statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
