With humidities above 20 percent across the region, fire weather conditions should remain low through the short-term period. Strong southeasterly flow increasing this afternoon which could lead to wind gusts up to 30 mph along the Palmer Divide and urban corridor. Smoke dispersal reaches good to very good for parts of the mountains, valleys, and plains. LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Sunday through Wednesday... It will be warmer and windy on Sunday with only a slight chance of afternoon showers in the mountains. A weather system will affect the area late Sunday night into Monday which will bring a round of wind and snow to the mountains. Across the plains, it will be very windy and cooler with a chance of showers in the morning. Tuesday will continue very windy with a good chance of snow showers in the mountains with dry conditions over the plains. Critical fire danger may occur both Monday and Tuesday across southeast Elbert and southern Lincoln counties. By Wednesday, it will remain unsettled with a chance of snow showers in the mountains with a chance of rain showers across the plains.
