180 FNUS54 KMAF 050812 FWFMAF Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 312 AM CDT Sun May 5 2024 ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY EVENING... .DISCUSSION... ERCs are at or above 70th percentile with critically dry fuels from upper Trans Pecos into Davis and Guadalupe Mountains, Southeast New Mexico Plains and Sacramento Foothills. Warmer temperatures Monday through Thursday with widespread critical min RH below 15% and stronger westerly winds above 20 miles per hour result in increasing fire risk. Localized critical fire weather conditions may briefly occur this afternoon across Sacramento Foothills and Chaves County. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect Monday afternoon through evening for the upper Trans Pecos, Davis and Guadalupe Mountains, Davis Mountain Foothills and Culberson County, Southeast New Mexico Plains, and Sacramento Foothills. Elevated to critical fire weather conditions persist until Thursday when a cold front moves through and leads to cooler temperatures, better overnight recovery, and increased moisture and clouds for the end of next week into next weekend. && For point-specific forecasts please see the Point Fire Weather Matrix product issued by the Midland/Odessa National Weather Service Office.
