FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE Goodland KS
246 PM MDT Tue May 7 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MDT THIS EVENING...
...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...

Relative humidity values in the teens continue for many areas this
afternoon, along with gusty winds out of the west to northwest. Dry
conditions are expected to continue this afternoon for most areas. A
few sprinkles or light showers may be possible for the eastern
portions of our area. However, with conditions as dry as they are,
anything that is able to develop may potentially evaporate before it
can reach the ground.

There is a chance for elevated to near critical fire weather
conditions across the area Wednesday. Winds will not be quite as
strong tomorrow, with the strongest winds currently focused north of
Interstate 70. The lowest RH values will be mainly south of the
interstate.

The next chance for thunderstorm activity will be Thursday afternoon
and evening.
