Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
1055 AM MDT Tue May 22 2018

...A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Wednesday afternoon
and evening for gusty winds, low humidity levels and dry fuels
for fire weather zone 224 which includes the San Luis Valley...

.Discussion...

Latest computer simulations suggest critical fire weather conditions
will be met over a large enough portion of the San Luis Valley on
Wednesday, therefore a Fire Weather Watch has been hoisted. Low relative
humidity values combined with gusty winds will lead to conditions
favorable for rapid rates of fire growth and spread Wednesday afternoon
and evening.

Thursday through Saturday will be hot but upper high pressure
is expected to keep winds below critical levels.

The fire danger may escalate again late in the weekend into
early next week as southwest flow increases ahead of an
approaching low pressure system.

Afternoon ventilation rates will be very good to excellent
across the district through Wednesday.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
