Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
1006 PM MDT Tue May 22 2018

...A Red Flag Warning is in effect from Noon until 8 PM
Wednesday for gusty winds, low humidity levels and dry fuels for
fire weather zone 224 which includes the San Luis Valley...

.Discussion...

Critical fire weather conditions will spread across the San Luis
Valley on Wednesday due to a combination of gusty winds, low
humidity values and dry fuels. Gusty south to southwest winds
will also spread across the southeast plains with near critical
fire weather conditions possible for an hour or two across
portions of Pueblo and El Paso county on Wednesday. To the east,
an isolated strong storm or two will be possible where low
level moisture will remain in place.

Dry and hot weather will spread in for Thursday through the weekend.
Winds will be lighter which should limit fire weather concerns.
Very isolated thunderstorms will be possible at times across the
mountains and far eastern plains, but little relief from the drought
is expected as any rainfall amounts will be spotty and light.
Winds will increase for Sunday and Monday which may bring a return
of elevated fire weather conditions to the area.

Smoke dispersions will drop into the poor category overnight for most
areas with inversions breaking by 9-10 AM and dispersions rising
into the very good to excellent category district wide for Wednesday
and Thursday afternoons.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
