Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
719 AM MDT Sat Jun 23 2018

...A Red Flag Warning remains in effect from noon until 9 PM MDT
today for gusty winds, low relative humidities, high Haines
indices and dry fuels for fire weather zones 220 and 222 through
225, which includes the San Luis Valley, the Eastern San Juan and
La Garita mountains, the Sangre De Cristo and Wet Mountains, the
Wet Mountain Valley, and Chaffee, Lake and Fremont Counties...

...A Fire Weather Watch has been issued from late Sunday morning
through Sunday evening for gusty winds, low relative
humidities, high Haines indices and dry fuels for fire weather
zone 224, which includes the San Luis Valley...

.Discussion...

Thunderstorms will be more isolated today across the eastern plains
while the mountains see a return of critical fire weather conditions
due to gusty winds, low humidity values and high haines. Tonight
a cold front will drop through the plains bringing a better chance
for showers and thunderstorms to northern and eastern portions of
the district. The San Luis valley will see a return of gusty winds
with the potential for critical fire weather conditions to return
during Sunday afternoon and a Fire Weather Watch has been issued.

The weather dries out again for Monday behind the departing system
and the mountains will see less wind. It will warm up and dry out
for the remainder of the work week with light winds expected until
late week when critical fire weather conditions may return for
portions of the area.

Afternoon dispersions will rise into the very good to excellent
category both today and Sunday.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
