Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
209 PM EDT Mon May 6 2024

.DISCUSSION...
An upper ridge will move over the region on Tuesday resulting in
partly to mostly sunny skies once morning low stratus and/or fog
lifts. A few showers or thunderstorms are possible early in the
day, especially across the Pee Dee region. The ridge will help to
suppress shower and thunderstorm activity in the afternoon and
evening despite hot and humid conditions with the highest risk for
convection over the northern and eastern portions of the forecast
area. Shower and thunderstorm chances increase Wednesday through
Friday with strong to severe thunderstorms possible, especially on
Thursday as a potent storm system in the Central CONUS moves east.
Drier weather is then expected to return for the upcoming weekend.

Fog potential: Patchy.
