000 FNUS55 KABQ 270857 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 257 AM MDT Sat Apr 27 2024 ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FOR TODAY BETWEEN NOON AND 8 PM FOR THE NORTHEAST AND EAST CENTRAL PLAINS DUE TO STRONG WINDS, LOW HUMIDITY AND AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE... .DISCUSSION... Critical fire weather conditions are expected this afternoon and evening across the Northeast and East Central Plains. Strong southwesterly winds will develop ahead of an incoming storm system and humidity values will fall below 15 percent. Meanwhile, showers and thunderstorms will expand along and west of the Central Mountain Chain today. These showers and thunderstorms will slowly diminish overnight but will return across northeast New Mexico Sunday afternoon. Hot, dry and unstable conditions will return Monday through Thursday. Breezy conditions Tuesday through Thursday will result in elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions each afternoon.
